A kid-heavy post...

Ok, ok, so it's been a while.  But I have a great excuse for not writing!

No, that's not a kidney bean in a cave.  It's Baby Rushe 2.0 at 8 weeks old!  So I'm officially 12 weeks now and am starting to feel like myself again.  We're excited (and nervous!) to be adding a new member to our family in July. (SERIOUSLY, July.  No woman should ever have to be pregnant in July.)

For now we're just coming out of the Christmas holiday where Nate and I were off together for 10 days.  It was great to be with him so much- he's such a joy and always makes us laugh (or want to hit ourselves in the head with a hammer.  Either way.)

We worked on potty training during the break and he did great on Monday.  Tuesday we went to the museum to see the dinosaurs and he refused to use the public potty so that was a little set back.  We let him run around Tuesday night with no diaper so he would get used to going on the potty again.  So I was sitting in front of the fire and I looked up to see Nate walking out of his play tent with a turd in each hand.  At least he was heading for the bathroom...

Also, I wanted to note a couple of "Nate-isms" before he gets big and I forget them.  I have a terrible memory and I'm worried about forgetting all of these cute little things he does and says (and now with two I'll really have trouble!)  So for now, a brief Nate Dictionary:

*Es- he doesn't say this any more but for a long time, instead of "Yes" he said "Es".  My brother- and sister-in-law used to call just to ask him questions that he would answer with "Es"

*"What's that noisy?"- instead of "what's that noise?"  I love this one and I know he won't but I hope he says it like this forever.

*"What."-  This one doesn't translate well to writing.  He says it with this totally flat inflection like "I don't really care- but what?"

*"Oookkkaaayyy Mommy"- "F You Mommy"

I know there are more but it's all my pregnant brain can come up with for now.

I swore this blog wouldn't turn into a parenting one but I'm afraid that the fact that parenting is so ridiculous and funny and confusing just lends itself to better stories than being childless and clutzy.  And because I don't want to forget all of the amazing things that my children do while they're young and innocent and mostly still like me.  Plus it will come in handy for blackmail when they're teenagers and I need them to take the trash out.

  2. Nothing wrong with a parenting blog! After all, it's just where you are right now... it will change and evolve. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!
