Video didn't so much kill the radio star...

Well, I am always a little behind in my technology jumps, but today I purchased a MP3 player after my CD Walkman finally pooped out on me... I bought the smallest possible memory (512 MB) and I am completely amazed at the fact that something the size of a cigarette lighter can hold almost 350 songs. This must be how my grandparents felt about 8-tracks.

Now, here's the problem: as of right now, I have 28 songs loaded.

I feel totally out of touch with new music and of course can't seem to recall much of what I used to like... so, if you have any recommendations- new music, old music, individual songs or your favorite group, I would appreciate any direction!

Thanks everyone!

  1. Check out anything by Arcade Fire. I think they are amazing. We burned a CD for my friend Julie & put it on at her birthday party & everyone kept asking us about it. Also, (this was my fave from last year) Death From Above 1979. They are awesome & it is even better when you realize it is just a bassist & a drummer making all that noise. I like the Kaiser Chiefs album, very British & poppy, just fun - but not "the best" musically. I have not really bought anything recently otherwise...although, I want to check out the New Pornographers, everything I have heard from them I have liked. Also, if you have never listened to Death Cab for Cutie, check them out too.

  2. eMail me your current address (just in case my records are out of date) and I'll send you a CD of MP3s, or a DVD if you have a DVD drive on your computer.
