WHEW! It's been a busy few weeks! Today we moved my grandparents to Cranberry and we've been preparing by painting, cleaning, doing yard work, etc. for the past couple of weeks. It's so great, they're only a mile from our house and my aunt and cousin live a 1/2 mile away. It's a lot less yard and less house for them to care for- they are 82 and the steps alone was just too much! Another cool factoid: their new across-the- street-neighbors are The Jacksons of Erin Jackson fame!
But saying goodbye to the house they lived in for 50 years was hard for all of us. We've had so many great times there. And while it's been years since we've had a family event there (too much work and confusion for my grandma), it was still tough. We said goodbye in our own ways- my cousin Kristen and I had a nice roll down the back hill (which is still REALLY fun!)- and realized for the last time that this small ranch is hardly big enough to hold the memories created there.
On a more-relevant-to-the-original-purpose-of-this-blog note, I pinched my arm in their porch swing when I was putting it together and have a HUGE blood blister. Sexy.
